ATTENTION ARIZONA SONGWRITERS Coming Saturday, April 10:

Special Workshop featuring Severin Browne!

at Fiddlers Dream Coffeehouse in Phoenix.

Sat, April 10, 1pm to 4, Severin Browne, renowned songwriter (and brother of Jackson Browne) doing a special workshop for us on Song Finishing. Registration starts at 12:15.

Severin’s Song Finishing Workshop is all about finding what it is that your song needs to be complete.  After beginning with some of his philosophy of songwriting, Severin will open up the workshop to students who have brought songs that are not yet complete and offer some thoughts on each one. Then the class will be allowed to give their thoughts too, creating an open discussion.  Severin will be there with his acoustic guitar and encourages others to bring their beginnings and play them live

Please bring 20 or so copies of your unfinished lyric for other students to write their thoughts on.  It is a wonderful feeling to get a stack of your own lyric returned to you with notes on what you might do to make it better.  Sometimes it will be notes on what lines moved them, and sometimes it will be a craft issue.   If you are participating, feel free to bring your guitar.

Here’s more about Steve Bloch and his company:

After a decade of success with his LA based talent agency, Entertainment Associates, Bloch segued into publishing and founded Southern Cow Music in 1991, moved his headquarters to Nashville in '93, and hasn't looked back since. His boutique publishing company garnered cuts with Faith Hill, Lee Ann Womack, Rebecca Lynn Howard, and Lee Greenwood. In addition he secured cuts with Kenny Chesney, John Berry, and Lila McCann for select independent clients.

In the late 90's, he was tapped by Doug Johnson at Giant records to do independent A&R for the label where he secured cuts for Clay Walker, Keith Harling and Blake Shelton.

In 2003, Bloch, along with two others, founded Writer Zone Music, LLC., a uniquely innovative publishing company. Equity in the company is shared by writers who have come on board with a high level of past measurable success. Writer/Owners include Thom Schuyler (16th Ave.), Rand Bishop (My List), and Jon Robbin (I Breathe In I Breathe Out). Writer Zone writer and artist Trent Summar (Love You) completed an album for Palo Duro Records and 2006 Colgate Country Showdown national runner-up, WZ writer Hailey Stout, is currently being shopped to the major labels for a record deal.

Currently, Bloch represents songs of Regie Hamm, whose American Idol contest winning song, “The Time of My Life” has spent 16 weeks at number one for American Idol Champion, David Cook.

Steve is a frequent guest of the West Coast Songwriters Association, Arizona Songwriters Association, Durango Songwriters Expo, TAXI, and numerous SGA and NSAI sponsored events.

As Steve says, "You never know from where the magic comes".

STEVE WILL BE in PHOENIX from MARCH 10 through MARCH 16 and WILL BE AVAILABLE for PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS.
